This book written in Malayalam presents a historical perspective on account of Chomskyan model of linguistics tracing its evolution from Syntactic Structures (1957) to Minimalist Theory(2000). The main concepts discussed in Syntactic structures, Aspects theory (1965), On-Wh movement, Government and Binding theory (1981), Causes and Consequences of GB Theory, Barriers Theory (1986) and Minimalist Theory are presented with the help of tree diagrams. Wherever possible, analogous structures in Malayalam are discussed with the help of tree diagrams. The work gives a comprehensive account of the Principles and Parameters Theory of Chomsky.
